AIRCRAFT WHEELS AND BRAKES

Aircraft wheels developed and being produced now by Aircraft Corporation "Rubin" are designed for a wide range of sizes, load and speeds. Wheel rims are designed to mount different models tire cord layers with or without inner tube.

From the middle of the last century all Soviet and Russian operating and constructed airplanes and helicopters are equipped by wheels and brakes produced by our Corporation.

STRUCTURE

As a rule a wheel consists of two half-hubs connected by joint bolts. Half-hubs are made from an increased strength aluminum alloy.  Radial thrust tapered roller bearings are installed in wheels.

Brakes consist of plates, torque tube and hydraulic drive. On customer requirements brakes can be equipped either by carbon plates or by plates with friction pads made on base of iron and alloyed iron.

Brake pads are produced by powder metallurgy technologies.

A titanium alloy is applied to reduce a construction mass of wheels and braked.

Fire security of wheels and brakes is provided by application in brake systems of unflammable liquid in combination with specially designed materials.

The selected construction materials combined with corrosion protection provide wheels and braked trouble-free operation in all climatic zones.

In order to increase the maintainability and operational reliability braking wheels are equipped with the following devices:

• landing gear blower driven by an electric motor;
• drive to a brake system rate sensor;
• automatic wear adjuster in brake;
• wear indicators;
• temperature sensor for temperature control system;
• temperature switch to show maximum safe temperature in vulnerable places;
• fusible plug assemblies to ensure tire wouldn’t blow at high temperatures.
